Why is it that the XTS2500 seems so unpopular.
So far, I've only seen two EVER on eBay and they sold for about $800 each (model III w/Smartzone and IMBE)?
There was a complete VOCODER board available on eBay just recently and it sold (to me, BTW) for only $25! (I received it and it works from what I can tell). Now, I just have to buy the rest of the radio- totalling about $400 and I'll have a perfect XTS2500 (like new!) for only $425 - which is REALLY cheap.
But why doesn't anyone want to have an XTS2500 (other than me?) come on, I don't think thata encryption is that important especially when most of us (or maybe just me) can't legally decode any encrypted signals anyhow.
Because it hasn't been hacked??
I don't know about you guys, but I like smaller, compact radios. The XTS3000, 3500, and 5000 are too large for me (of course I own a 3000). I've got two HT1250s and the "interoperability" of chargers and batteries as well as their comperable size makes it something I've been wanting (and have the most important components of).
On another note, things I read about the XTS2500 and 5000 seem to indicate "much improved audio"- does anyone have a pair of 5000s (obviously nobody has a 2500) and can do an audio test and post it on the web? I'd like to know how much "better" IMBE can get!

The recommended audio settings have been changed by Big M. They released an SRN which someone else here had posted a while back with the tx audio set to AGC for analog, secure, and digital. The individual gain is set to 0 and total gain to +6 dB. THis is the default on the new CPS and the new radios shipping. This may account for the differences you hear.
Just go into radiowide/tx audio options. Change it from linear to AGC and the settings I suggested.

Well actually it was a http://www.alohabatteries.com -battery. Ni-Mh. It didn't fit to well on the radio unfortunately but I figured out why and fixed it.r0f wrote:Hey that's pretty decent. Is it NiCad or NiMH?Josh wrote:The XTS2500 battery is the same as the HT1250- no, not "Impres" but it still works.
I paid $45 (?) for a 2000ma battery.

I've got a 4000Ma battery for the XTS3000 from them too- it sure blows away those cheesy 1850Ma NiCad batteries I was using in the beginning. Now the radio will run for more than one day!

Edit: The battery is 2700Ma: http://www.alohabatteries.com/catalog/a ... 568004.htm
and was $50 but at the time there was some sort of batlabs user-discount.
