Saber III and XTS3k III Help!

Post by kc4cov »

I have both (3 sabers and 1 XTS3k), stickers on the back say that the radio is a type III, but it will only program as a type II.

I hacked one Saber with lab software, but it changed my flash and now IMBE does not work as well as the ones I did not hack. DTMF works, so does MODAT, but the Digital Squelch option disappeared. I have to go to monitor, and it will decode 25 somewhat, but the others I did not hack work great decoding 25, just the DTMF does not work.

In the service mode, the DTMF keys do show that they work, and I get the bong when pressed in the operating mode.

I need DTMF to control my ham repeaters, and I hate to have to carry two radios to do so. They both program with the DOS version of RSS.

Any help appreciated.

    Hmmm.. where to start....

Which radio are we talking about the XTS or Astro Saber?
Firmware and Flash for the radio in question?
Model Number on the radio AND model # displayed in the RSS?
Did you retune the radio after "hacking" it?
Did you make a back-up of the radio you "hacked?"

Sounds like you put a VSELP Model 2 codeplug into an IMBE Model 3 radio, and didn't retune it. Just a guess....

The software you can use to program your radio can be purchased for a nominal fee from Motorola. You won't find any here, and hinting at even looking for it isn't really allowed either.

From your first post, you have the "tools" that you might very well need to do what you want. Keep in mind that asking Motorola for these tools will simply get you put on a very bad list. It's not on the list of "Alex's suggested things to do."

There are people who are trying to give you a hand with your problem, but you need to post more information besides a simple reply about being "green" and needing some software.

Where's Elroy and his troll detector when you need him.
