Hello,
Does anyone know if it is possible to bring a saber I vhf (vanilla) back from the dead when you get a checksum error upon reading the codeplug and it will not allow you to blow a new codeplug into it... upon attempting to program the radio it gives a serial I/O error... possibly lab software or a hacked version of a software can help or do I have a mighty fine paperweight now....
saber I vhf checksum error...

Hi:
If " Creating " a new RPF does not work, I can
" Sometimes " save these old Sabers !
Also, make sure you are using a " Stable " computer
paltform too. A good 386-486-25 along with a Motorola
Rib box is ideal. But if the above does nt work:
I have a small test jig that alows direct access
to the micro-processor, and with that jig, I can
make them come alive again.
One way of knowig for sure, is to monitor the
input current to the radio while turned on.
If the Current moves up and down, your radio
has a condition of what is called toggling, and
that is a corruption that takes place when Both
Micro-computers get confuzzed.
Does require a special set up to " clear " the
lock up. Email me @ [email protected] if
you are interested.
