XTS 2500 High Capacity Battery

Does anyone know why Motorola doesn't have a 3500 or 4000 mAH battery for their radios. I bid against Motorola today and they no bid
a requirement for a 3500 mAH battery thereby perhaps loosing the bid for XTS2500's. The Motorola RNN4006 shows up as a 3000 mAH sometimes and other times as a 3500 mAH. I have one and tested it to about 3400 as brand new.

Multiplier and W&W both make a 4000 for the XTS line. For some reason
Moto doesn't even list the RNN4006 for the XTS 2500.

Can anyone explain this strange behavior? I asked the Moto saleswoman
and she claimed that she didn't have answers to any of my questions.

You might also consider http://www.batteryzone.com for high-capacity aftermarket Motorola batteries. I bought the 3000mah saber battery, it's great, lasts for days on 1 charge (rx-only). I know another member here on the board has had good luck with them as well, and their prices are decent...

I don't think he is looking for batterys, but why Motorola doesn't have on for the XTS 2500.

The answer is...

It Motorola, nothing needs to be reasonable.

The battery for the XTS2500 is basically the same as the HT1250 with the charging contacts moved, there is no 3500 mah battery available for that radio, it would have to be 1.5 - 2 inches thick which would make it unusable.

I think the bid being talked about was for Fairfax County, VA for the School district which would only buy about 5% of the total 3900 radio order as portables.

I think that the radio shop may have made a mistake in the specification since the rest of the system is for Fire, Police and Sheriff and it is ASTRO 25 using XTS3000 / 5000 radios and they currently buy only Multiplier batteris after being stung by BatteryZone with some fires started with thier batteries.

I keep close track of bids and saw this one the other day, saw the specs and laughed a lot.

I think it was an oversight on the part of the spec writer.
