scanning and mdc alerting with a W-7
I am having trouble with a W-7 receiving an MDC page when it is scanning. It will acknowledge the page when it is not in scan mode, but it will not acknowledge the page when it is scanning.
In order to have MDC features received reliably by field units that scan, the console setting has to have a long pre-time, so as to increase the probability that the radio will latch onto the channel before the start of the MDC data sequence.
While we don't use the feature much, I know that it works in scan with Spectras, MT2000 and MTS2000, and XTS3500. I believe our pre-time convention is 500 ms.
