Astro Sepctra Delema

Post by 2wayguru »

I have asked r0f about this and I thought I would toss this problem out to you astro folks as well. Here is what I am dealing with....

I have an astro spectra UHF that started out as a consolette and converted into a mobile configuration. The unit constantly keys up on power up and will stop transmitting when I change the channel but the constant bonk tone is there.

The radio when keyed puts out about 5 watts. I have reprogrammed the unit several times and turned off all the emergency functions so it would not key up. There was a voltage regulator that was burned that was in a diode configuration on the W7 head. Before I replaced that component the radio would not turn off. It now will turn off when I press the power button but the radio still wants to stay keyed when the power is on.

I am wondering if this is a head problem or if there is a jumper or a part of the accy plug that has to be grounded since it thinks it is still a consolette? Any input on this problem would be helpfull thanks.......
