XTS public safety speaker mic compatibility

I have a jedi public safety speaker mic NMN6228C and would like to use it with an XTS3k...but no such luck, as there is a little silver pin that will not give...

Anyone have the correct model number for such item, have one for sale or trade?

The silver pin that won't give it to push the switch that route the RF to the antenna connector on the public safety speaker mic. Problem, the XTS does not have the switch to push and will not route the RF to the "external" antenna. You have to use the regular speaker mic with the curley cord on the XTS. Part number NMN6191(rev C in the one I am currenly useing).

Trust me on this one. I have 169 XTS3000s that I maintain and have been all through this with Moto customer service.

There is one option if you want the straight cord public safety mic. Remove the switch pin and leave the antenna on the radio. Customer service says it won"t, but it does work.

yes! Anyone have any idea what this RF adapter puppy looks like...I don't think I saw in the brochure you posted... Wonder if my particular speaker mic may work with that RF adapter on the xts.

jhooten - thanks for the reply. I was just convinced that I saw some PD using these, with no radio antennas, just the ones on top of the mic... Thus I got myself above model and thought I could "represent" as well... Sigh

Well, you could put a second antenna on the speaker mic for looks, it wouldn't be functional but the look would be there. You would still have to remove the switch pin though.

Our police department uses XTS3000s with public safety mics no problem... Can't tell you the model # though, sorry... I think the RF adapter mentioned above is the same thing needed to use the XTS3k with the XTS convertacom. I've been curious as to what this part looks like.

BINGO Charlie, that is exactly where I saw that... I was out in Fairfax at a detail and the FC guys all had them... Let me know if you can score a model number...

The microphone you have will not work with the XTS (with out doing the mod mentioned, which will limit it to always being used with speaker mike, ) You need a NMN6247, 6250, or 6251 , difference being cable lenghts for the XTS and it must be used with the the RF adapter NTN 8327. There is an additional raised section on the XTS mike which the MTS mike does not have. which allows fot mating with the RF adapter which threads on to the antenna connector. I have one new in the box with the RF adapter antenna and wrench for $100 shipped, if your interested you can PM me.

Hmmm, I will have to think about that to see if it is worth it to me, I appreciate the offer.

Anyone have any experience with the xts commander mic, that has channel and volume control as well? Just want to try out something new...

I own a commander speaker mike. Its a neat toy to have but its not all that useful. The only time I really use it when I am on call on campus and I leave my portable in my book bag with the speaker mic on the strap. It works with other jedi series portables (at least it does on my MT2000 and HT1000 as well my XTS3000) except the volume control does not work.

Unless you have some setup where it is a pain to get to the radio to change channels, volume, etc. it is not really necessary. But like I said, it’s a neat toy and it looks cool on the XTS.

Otto Makes one, see ottoeng.com the magazine ad shows a compact spkr/mic, the a JEDI type connector and a coax that connects to the SMA antenna connector on the radio.

They seem to all it the XTS Series Evolution Antenna Speaker-Microphone
