Got a VHF Saber that had the wrong PA module installed: an NLE8473A (458-500 MHz) rather than the correct NLE8123A. Just for grins I checked it out and was surprised to see identical performance to my other VHF Sabers with the correct module -- about 5.5 watts out, 3rd harmonic down -58 to -60 dB, and no other visible spurs up to 6 GHz (HP 8901A reading tuned RF level behind a 20 dB attenuator, and a 141T/8555A to look at the spectrum). Are these just broadband devices labeled differently for grins? I guess the next step is to look inside, maybe someone swapped hybrids and left the housings the same. Any ideas?

PA-modules of analog-Sabers are broadband devices. But an UHF-HI module will NOT work together with a VHF-Saber. I think, the module has the wrong front (the silver-coloured half of the housing).
