Not a darn thing wrong that I can remember. I've used aSo whats wrong with the TWIN VEE ?? !!
T41GGV-1000 on 39.9 a few times in my life. Of course,
I've used a few others as well, but I think my all around
favorite was a U71LHT1490 Motrac which had the "Extender"
noise blanker receiver. Just mount a six-foot stainless steel
whip with a ball and spring mount on the left rear trunk deck
of a 1972 Dodge Polara 440 cid along with a Federal Visibar
and a PA-20 Intercepter siren and you'd have one serious
looking police car. The one I drove could pass everything on
the road but a gas station. Low band and fast cars...thanks
for the memories.

Yes, I remember T41GGV and the "T" Power T51GGT on 27.4 and later moved them to 32mhz They "rorred".. gota love the add on Extender noise blanker for the tube G receivers. Then came Motracs, the T51LHT3140 series and the Motran. Four freqs!!!!!!!!
Today the M216 Radius and the Maxtracs work quite well, my choice is the Maratrac or the Mitrek if only a few channs.
The Mitrek's were probaly one of the best since the Micors.

...radios...
I tell 'ya, as far as I am concerned, although I think when it comes to a simple, bulletproof radio for lowband, nothing will top a mitrek ( the less there is, the less there is to go wrong)...I remember when motracs came out (p.s. I have a full head of hair and can easily pass for someone in their 30's..i dealt w/ radios at a unusually young age)..as i was saying, the hht's were, well a little too crude, ovens, and such, too many tubes in the PA, but when the 'LHT hit, they finally had the first of a truly reliable, decent, radio that would last a lifetime....
Hello:
From our perspective:
The Motorola " MT1000 " Low band portable was
( is ) still the best sounding, best perfroming radio
ever made for the Low band Range.
I even spoke to Oklahoma City from San Diego on
52.525 Mhz one time when the Band was open

MT1000s are fine, except for the limited channels on the lowest split.
I'm still trying to work Europe on 29.6 with mine. Maybe someday, when things are just right. Heck, I'd settle for a repeater or two as well.
The 99 CH version according to what info I have wasn't available for 29.6-36 split and seems strange. But, hey, I'm not complaining. Just having one that might work 10M DX is OK here.
BTW, the Motrac had heaters too. Lest we not forget our roots. You could sink 'em in a lake, dry 'em out and they'd survive unfettered. Try that with a Maratrac, Maxtrac or Spectra.
