Astro Spectra mobile conversion to Consolette

Post by AWT »

I have a need to do tone control (with 8 channel frequency selection) on several Astro Spectra mobiles. It is my understanding that there is no aftermarket TRA's that can do this and that we need the Consolette version. Can I buy the TRC board, Housing, COntrol Head Interface board, and all the misc cables and put this together as a Consolette? When I go to program it with the software will the tone control options be available? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I've never dealt with a tone controlled Astro Spectra, but I believe you just need to enable 'TRC Option' under the 'more options' screen...F4-->F3-->F9 from the main menu.

Wavetar, you are correct when it is a Spectra Consolette (Base Station version), but those options are not available on the mobile, so I believe that what I need to do is buy all of the parts and convert the mobiles into the Consolette so when you read it with the software you will see the TRC options. My main concern, is will what I am suggesting work? I am not a Spectra Guru so I am clueless here.

The 'TRC Option' shows on screen for any regular Astro Spectra mobile codeplug I have. Whether there are other options which are supposed to show up in the consolette, I don't know. The only consolettes I've dealt with were the digital RCH3000 set-ups.
