Astro Saber Intermittent MDC ID Decode

Post by Fuel4300 »

I have an astro saber 403-470 512k

Model Number:H04RDH9PW7BN
Host: I06.04.12
DSP: R05.52.10
Flash: 599108-1C5E00-1

There are only four channels that I really care about displaying MDC IDs. I know I have it all programmed correctly but it only displays the ids sometimes. For instance I may turn the thing on 10 times and will display the IDs one time. It will then stop decoding them if I turn it off and back on.

Two of the channels are P25 and two are analog. However they are all about of band for this radio. The furthest out of band being 480.xxx. I programmed the radio using CPS 04.00.00 modified for up to 485mhz.

Thanks,
Mike

What radios do you own?: X9000 thru APX

Ok, you mention P25 and MDC. Are they not display for either, or just the analog channels?

You flash code looks a little stacked but I can't see any incompatabilites off the top of my head. The firmware looks pretty recent for a 512K radio.

Also, are the ID's going thru a repeater or simplex? If its thru a repeater, its possible that the repeater itself is not sending all the data. I have a MSF5000 that has this problem...even the console (wirelined to the CEB) won't decode the ID's all the time.

The ID's don't display in either analog or P25. Its thru a repeater but I know the problem is on my end because this is the only radio having issues.

I have noticed that it almost always decodes the IDs if I am not scanning.

Is it possible that the radio is scanning too slow to get the ID? All the radios on the system are set to send the ID before the transmission and I have it programmed for selected channel priority.

Yes, if its scanning sometimes, it will just catch the end of the MDC, so sometimes it will not decode it at all, ALSO.. you mention that when not scanning it decodes,

Go in to radio wide option I think and then go to Display, then somwhere in there, there is a option for where you can either choose enable to stop decoding IDs when scanning and Disable to Decode ID's while scanning. some ppl perfer enable so they can see what channel they are monitoring when it stops instead of the IDs poping up and some ppl like it the other way.

But umm, try that, maybe that will work for ya.

Oh yeahh forgot one thing too, I have notice this before, but if am on a mixed mode channel with the spacing being set on 12.5/2.5k it sometimes do not decode MDC.

That did the trick! I had mulled over the MDC and scan settings for quite a while but overlooked that one...

Thanks a lot!
