Ok. We needed a new discussion topic, and so here it is!

What is your radio work area have in/on it, and how is it setup? I am going to be redoing mine with a toolbox, soldering station, o-scope, etc etc, and was wondering what you have in your special /\/\ area

Be as specific as you can, and pictures would be awesome! Im sure everyone will be interested to see each others stations, just like the vehicle pics thread. SO, will get the ball a rolling???? [\color][\size]

wish I had more then a radio and a chanrger!

Also make sure you mention the TYPE (make model) of RIB you use and the cables.

Well now, I've got two home brewed RIBs, a rack full of mostly home-brew programming cables (most of my /\/\ is genuine though), a 486 laptop, HP 'scope, a stack of Maxon SMX radios with one fault or another, and a wall mounted six way charger, with various radio cups. A 30amp bench PSU (with flashy lights), a Metcal smartheat (wasted on my soldering

), plus a few drawers full of junk, and assorted service manuals strewn all over the place.

A mess, but it's MY mess, and I know where evrything is

I have an IFR1600, a Weller soldering station, a series of antenna's connected to a switch for on the air tests. a Shlumberger 4032 and lots of STUFF (junk) laying around, this is so I can keep my personal radio's working since I am not in the radio business LOL

At work I have an IFR 1600, Siemens Transitmaster 1st Gen encoder/decoder, a Gateway 486 Comp. and a Compaq 432 laptop with the ribox and all the neccessary connections for all the radios we have. In addition to that, I have a VHF, UHF, 800 MHZ conv. Maxtrac and an old 800 MHZ rxr from an MSR2000 that I use with a 9 lement 800 mhz beam on a 25 foot tower out side our complex. All three radios can be "crossbanded together from my GP300 portable that I take around the facility with me since our garage is well over 1/4 mile long from one end to the other. I also have your typical soldering/desoldering station, Fluke volt meter, an old Simpson(DOOOOOOOOOH!) VTVM, and various Eprom and EEPROM readers and writers. The most important tool I have is this ol' body of mine and the two willing hands and a mind to with it. Since I am short and skinny, I can go places that the other two "bench techs" ( now on Medicals because of their health) can't. Get my drift? :>:>:>:>:>:>:>:>

we got ICOM uhf portables lying around since the county is to cheap to get us on with the 800MHZ portables (which are good chalk blocks)

and I'm getting a VHF 1550 to replace my Saber 2

well lemmes see here. got the typical tools (screwdrivers, soldering iron, plyers, sledgehammer

, etc. aftermarket rib with a breakout of -gater clips (cheaper than buying programming cables for every radio). maxon rib (for some tp-4800s). Yeasu prog cables, 6 shelves of junk and working radios. two laptops. one tower computer. several antennas. and one VERY understanding wife.

I have a shovel that I use for two pursposes:

1) Burying Nextel phones.

2) Burying Kenwood radios.

Oh....and a third reason:

3) smacking someone in the head that says they might buy a Nextel or Kenwood product.

I just have a simple setup. Not really into any serious repair. Just a 486/66 8 Megs Memory with a Polaris PA-II. Cables for Spectra,GP350/300 alligator type, and HT1000/MTS2000. I might get a kenwood cable and setup a VHF unit for listening to fire and MURS operation.
