MCX1000 out of band programming
has anyone tried the out of band programming that they have posted on the board ?? not that im going to go too far out of band (136-162) only going to 163. also on the model number that is listed for the radio, it should be a 128 mode but is now only a 56 mode. not that i need 128 channels but if i try to change it to 128 mode will it corrupt the radio

Re: MCX1000 out of band programming
May be a 128ch model number, but I bet if you look inside the cover of the radio and trace the option numbers, one of them with be for the 56 mode "option" that makes the radio 56 instead of the 128 you'd expect.williamh wrote:also on the model number that is listed for the radio, it should be a 128 mode but is now only a 56 mode. not that i need 128 channels but if i try to change it to 128 mode will it corrupt the radio
If you re-enable the 128 channels and program the radio, I think the radio will puke with an EEPROM error after you program it. If that happens, make the codeplug 56 channels again and re-program to clear the error.

That's correct, I tried that and got an EEPROM error. Only way aroundBat Wing wrote:williamh wrote:also on the model number that is listed for the radio, it should be a 128 mode but is now only a 56 mode. not that i need 128 channels but if i try to change it to 128 mode will it corrupt the radio

that is to replace the 2816 with a 2864. Was then about to change the
model of the radio in RSS from 56 channel to 128 channel without any
problem.
