KMF and KMC (Encryption Key Distribution)

Post by hoser »

Anybody using the Motorola Key-Management Controller (KMC) out there?

I am told it is no longer available from Motorola and the Key Management Facility (KMF) System is the only thing offered now by big M.

The KMC seemed like an easy way to distribute keys to keyloader over the phone line.

The KMF product is a little overkill and VERY pricy for soley this function.

i remember reading in a sales brochure that you could attach a modem to a KVL and transfer a key loader to loader via the modem - no KMF required.... kinda like a remote clone.

KMC's were pretty rare, i've only seen one....old ass IBM POS.

TO the best of my knowledge, A KMC works in conjunction with a CIU & it is a computer controller that runs on a UNIX platform.
