An Idea!

Post by Jonathan KC8RYW »

How about this: Setting up a used HT price guide, either here or on batlabs.com, so newcomers don't get royally screwed over. It doesn't have to be EXACT, but something for a rough idea of what to spend.

It would be nice to print off the price guide and take it along to a hamfest.

Anyone for seconding the motion? :D

That's not a bad idea... I am getting tired of finding a good used /\/\ hand held (like a GP300) and people on eBay (usually a new commer) getting a real bad case of "bidding fever"!! The net result is over inflated prices.

The radios MAY be worth it, but when you look at the exchange rate I am looking at ($1.62CDN to buy $1.00US dollar) and you tend to gag!!! Or wish you had a room full of these radios that you could put up on eBay!! I mean I purchased 2 used radios, a 2 channel VHF GP300 and a UHF 2ch P110 with a fast AND a standard rate charger from a guy at my office for a total of $160.00CDN ...for both radios!! :o

Maybe if people understood just what would be a good and fare price (range) for a used radio, the prices would be a little more reasonable.

I may think that a used GP300VHF 16ch w/DTMF is worth $250.00, but to pay $350.00 or more is unreal!!

One thing we would have to keep in mind is that the price range would be for a radio and standard rate charger ONLY, accessories such as hand mikes, extra batteries, fast rate chargers, etc would be extra.

I second that Idea also, It would be a very wounderful Idea to have, There are so many things on Ebay that have outrageous prices, and then people accually buy them. example I saw just the other day, A HT600 UHF for $400.00 :o Come on!!

Why not just make up something like a stock exchange sheet. Someone just reports what they bought or sold a radio for and the associated colum ("Price to buy" , "Price to Sell") would change. The olny issue would be options and acces. Perhaps a checkbox for with/without acces.

Food for thought

I'll third that motion, also new commers(like me) might not know what to price there stuff for if there just getting started into this stuff and if we had some kind of price guide or something similar it could give us an idea of what to price it.

I usually list radios without a reserve or high starting bid, so I might have a nice list of fair market prices. I'll keep an eye out for when this gets put together.

eBay Prices Up and Down

Post by Susan157 »

 We have watched eBay for a long time and the prices
go up and down for the same radio at different times of the year.
Great idea to have a price list.
