spectra siren question

Post by racemedic »

I have a siren from a syntor 9000 with the cable that connects them together. When it was removed they cut it to make it easy to remove. I would like to hook this up to my spectra so I can have PA and radio rebrodcast. Where does the cable connect to on the spectra, does it connect to the extra db25 connector that you use for programing or does it T into the other connector that goes to the control head? If it can go to the extra db25 on the radio what are the pin outs and can I put a db25 connector on the cut end of the cable that I have?

Thanks

I have taken a x9000 siren cable and cut off the t-block end (used it to make a programming cable) and then carefully put on a db25 connector to mate it to a spectra and it worked fine. I had the service manual in front of me with all the pin outs however (for both the x9000 siren cable and the spectra siren cable). Yes the siren cable for a spectra goes to the 2nd db25 connector on the hi power model If you have a remote low/mid power remote mount with the second db25 then it goes there.

Best bet is to get a service manual unless someone can scan the right pages and send it to you (I don't have a scanner).

BTW - Why the heck would someone cut a 4' cable to make it easier to detach???

I don't know why they cut the cable, it came this way in a box of stuff that I picked up a few weeks ago. I have seen people do strange things when they remove equipment. Also it is a high power radio. Thanks for the info and I'll have to look around for a manual.
