Need Hex editor help

I ts my first time that I tried to work with the hexeditor.
I wnted to change some frequencies with the hexeditor in a very special saber software (German Law Enforcement). I think i figured out where the frequencies are and replaced them. Then i tried to read the codeplug with the rss, but the rss had an errormessage thart said there is an "invalid character $64 in the file".
Do I have to do anything with the checksum?
Is there anybody I can mail the original and the new codeplug to have a look.
