Hacking the flashcode and fixing checksums is the easy part. Unfortunately, this is not enough. In fact, it will mess up your codeplug because when these features are not enabled in your codeplug, the corresponding sections are missing from the codeplug itself. So if you wanted to do it right, you would have to not only hack the flashcode and checksums, but also hack in sections of the codeplug that were missing. Something I would NOT recommend.

For RSS Versions 3.04 and later, the codeplug is encrypted and thus cannot be hacked what-so-ever.

You'll have to work with a pre-3.04 codeplug to use a hex editor...

What radios do you own?: X9000 thru APX

I have played around with hex editing pre and post 3.04... Not worth it. There are mulitple areas that need to be changed. Changing one area and enable one option may then also change your serial number in a different area! (Seen that quite a few times) and then after fixing that, it still will kill the radio.

Things may seem to work ok in RSS, but when its loaded into the radio, you better have a backup.
