MSF 5000 Download problem

Post by K8COP »

Having a problem with an MSF 5000 VHF Station. I have been attempting to read the codeplug, but half way through the download, I get a fail code.

Any ideas.

Using proper cables and software.

Thanks,

Perhaps a secure or TTRC board has been removed since the codeplug was written, and being non-existant, the SSCB is trying to read that portion of the codeplug and send it to the computer. Since the board is missing, it can't be read and the process hangs.

If you're sure all the hardware is still present. check the jumpers, as a few of them get changed if boards are removed or installed. If you had removed a secure or TTRC board, put it back, read the codeplug, disable the board(s) you want to remove, and write the codeplug back so it matches the hardware-to-be. Then remove the secure or TTRC board and change the jumpers.

If you don't need the info in the existing codeplug, start with a default one, make sure the appropriate boards are selected as present or not, and write that to the station. You should be good from there.
