Astro Spectra Plus Remote Cable

Post by jts203 »

Does anyone know if the remote cable for the Astro Spectra Plus is the same cable used for a standard Spectra radio or an Astro Spectra. The reason I ask is that I installed as Astro Spectra + in my car, remote mounted, and all features on the radio work fine but I can't program it. Putting it back together as one piece and it programs fine.

Thanks

Yes the remote mount cable is the same but the programming cable IS NOT. Are you using a programming cable for the spectra/astro spectra remote mount?

I am using the programming cable for the Spectra Plus that plugs into the mike jack, which works fine when it's configured as a one piece radio.

Try programming it via the keyloader port. It wont program through the mic port in remote mount.

If you're talking about the 15 pin connector on the back of the radio where normal Spectras are programmed, that does not work either.

There should be a jack on the front of the drawer unit where you keyload securenet, use that.

Maybe a better question would be what is the HLN part # on the interconnect board for the remote mount. Maybe you don't have the right one.

The one for the mount where the control head mounts is HLN6432B and the one that goes on the radio drawer unit is HLN6161C.

You have the wrong board on the drawer unit. It should be HLN6344. You have a non securenet spectra interface board. The HLN6186 will also not work as this is a securenet spectra interface board, not astro spectra.

Thank you. I'll have to do some searching or shopping.

If the radio were a regular astro spectra not the plus then the board you currently have would work but you wouldn't be able to keyload securenet into it.
