Spectra Plastic Lens Replacement

Post by billy7834 »

Can I replace just the plastic lens on a Spectra A9 control head? If so, how could I get the part?

The XTL parts are also black - they are not the "brown" that the Spectra heads are usually colored...

You might want to get the whole housing depending on how your install looks, and your prefrence for "neatness"

True, but if he's just replacing the clear lens, then he's all good. I would however do as Alex suggested and buy the whole new housing. The black looks better in my opinion and it'll have that snazzy "Astro" logo on the front...

Is the housing the flat plastic top of the control head with the cutouts for the buttons, etc? How hard or easy is it to switch that out? Any special tool needed?

The housing the back portion, the face is the front part of the head with the button holes and display lens.

It's easy to switch out, just remove the two rear screws and fold open the head, remove the screws holding the circuit board to the front and pull it all apart. Assembly is the reverse.

All you need is a couple Torx bits.

It's the face I would need...So would that be any of the part #'s above...since they say housing?

That will get you the housing front, but as Alex pointed out, it will be black. The rear part of the cover that you'd be outting it on is a "plum" color and it wouldn't match too well.

I used a regular Spectra remote kit with an Astro radio (color mismatch) and it didn't bother me one bit. It was of the A7/W7 variety.
