Full UHF Band Portables

Are there any portable out there can cover the full UHF Band ? I'm looking to get rid of having to have a R and S split radios all the time and just carry 1.

Theres no way to dip a S Split HT1250, HT1000, or MT(S) 2000 down in to the R Split to get a 417 mhz freq is there ?

No. S-splits down to 440... sometimes. 417, no way.

Failing that, you can fairly reliably get an R-split Jedi or ASTRO radio to 480, and a couple of MHz higher depending on that individual radio, depending on how high you need to go. My R-split ASTRO Saber III will lock up to 489MHz, though its performance up there isn't all that fantastic.

My range right now is 417 to 506 mhz. I only need the R split for work, which is in the area of 417 mhz. The S split will do everything else because the rest of the stuff I use is in the 460 to 512 range. It just sucks to have to carry a 2nd portable for just 3 channels. I already have to have a VHF portable also for mutual aid in the area.

Thales MBITR portables will do it. But you're looking at a $7000+ price tag, and it's a pretty basic radio... No digital. But it does give you field programmability, and it covers 30MHz to 520MHz(or so) in one radio. It's pretty big though.

It also has no type approval.

There is a P25 waveform under development, and it does CVSD modes (FED-STD-1023 and non-XL DES SECURENET).
