G857-FDNY Emergency Rx/Tx Tone Set

Anyone ever heard of this? I just did a flash upgrade on some XTS2500's and noticed this listed as a flash option.

I've got that in my 5K, but I have yet to figure out what it does.

I'm no guru on the subject but from what I understand it is a form of mdc id of sorts (only newer and custom made for fdny) in that it uses some different technology that allows 7 or more digits for the id numbers. FDNY have their radios set up so that everytime someone on the fireground (uhf) transmits the models with the displays can read a 7 digit number which indicates what company and which member in that company is transmitting via a 7 digit code they have set up. If you want the entire breakdown how fdny decodes these numbers, just email me. If you don't monitor a system that is set up for ATIS (basicly just a newer name for the form of MDC) it is probably useless to you. I have a ASII in UHF which I would love to get flashed with this option along with the H14 (id display). Anyone know if you could possibly get either of these flashed in a Astro Saber II these days as they stopped supporting them some time ago. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

ATIS was used with the HT1000 or MT2000's or something close. There is a thread about it not too far down the line here.

Their XTS3000's (or 3500's) were put back in service, and was/is being operated in the digital mode again on some channels. The 3000/3500 didn't have this tone set option. The 2500/5000's do, but again, if they are mixing and matching, I see a general compatiblity issue.

It has been rumored that its not a ATIS setup, but more as audio/user tones to make them more "retro" to all the other radios they had in use before. I don't have any source to say thats true or not.

TPS is Tactical Public Safety (or something like that). I don't have CPS on this computer so I can't copy the help file. IIRC, it deals with how a mode works if enabled...MDC muting, Emergency, tones muting etc. I never really looked too far into it, but thats what I remember. I have a fairly basic feature set on my 5k, so I am assuming its a standard feature.

I saw that flashcode on an AS3 over on eBay today. It looked even more whored-out than a NickFlash...
