I am looking for simple voice inversion scrambler for Astro Saber.
Whether made them Motorola? If yes, what they had P/N?

I don't know if any rolling code/voice inverter was made for the Astro Saber, but you might try something a bit more common such as DES-XL or DES-OFB.

Thank you, Jim, but I can't locate any scrabmler for Saber or Astro Saber on http://www.midians.com.
And what about production Motorola? Really it never made them?

No, no voice inversion for the Astro Saber. Voice Inversion is usually reserved for lower tier radios. A purchaser of a Astro Saber would normally want a higher grade encryption module (DES-XL, OFB come to mind.) There are several threads on this. One is a sticky concerning encryption modules by BATDUDE is one of the better sources out there on Motorola encryption in general.

I know all about types and generations of scramblers.txshooter wrote:No, no voice inversion for the Astro Saber. Voice Inversion is usually reserved for lower tier radios. But I asked about simple inversion scrambler because compatibility with park of old radio stations which still are in operation should be provided.

Re: Voice inverstion scrmabler for Astro Saber
Again, the Astro Saber is not a current production radio. At the time of production I am sure if a large enough client wanted this feature and was willing to pay for it, they would have made it available. But these are the upper tier radios, voice inversion is usually found only in lower tier radios as is it really not very secure. I simply gave you the link to the other page as a way of providing you details on all of the encryption modules we could show you and again show you that voice inversion was never made by Motorola for these radios.
Your initial question has now been answered twice. Obviously you don't like the answer, but that is the answer to your question.

You could have an experienced radio tech install a Midian VPU-7F inversion board into any radio. If you want to get fancy, there is enough room in the UCM cavity to install a Selectone ST-800 series inversion board, which allows ya to select different carrier frequencies. These boards are simple to install in older GP300, bla bla. It'd take more skill to get the right locations in the Astro radios I'd say, due to the DSP.
There are no cheap Plug-in-play solution - expect to pay $600+ per radio to have an inversion board installed.
I've seen some pretty crude installs of inversion and encryption boards in portables. One had a 1/4" hole drilled into the back of the radio, wires shoved through the hole and wired up. The security board, now hanging out the back of the radio was epoxied to the back of the radio

Re: Voice inversion scrambler for Astro Saber
Transcypt also has many boards available. I know some of our MTS2000's had them with the MSF5000. Not the greatest, but worked.
Your not going to find a plug/play, but an open the radio and solder solution.

It is very a pity, I hoped, that 12 years ago simple inversion have been demanded including in hi-end radios.
Thank you :)))Hightower wrote:You could have an experienced radio tech install a Midian VPU-7F inversion board into any radio. But I am looking for non-solder type board. It can be discountinued model & etc. (I can try to find it on eBay).
Yes, but no solution for Astro Saber, only for regular Saber. May be reason really in DSP built-in into AS?Pj wrote:Transcypt also has many boards available.
What exactly was not pleasant to you with them?Pj wrote:Not the greatest, but worked.
