XTS2500 Encryption Upgrade

Post by Fuel4300 »

I am looking into adding encryption to an XTS2500I model III which leads me to 2 questions:

Is a flash upgrade required in addition to adding the UCM or does the radio support the UCM as-is like an XTS3k and 5k?

From the service manual, I need P/N PMLN4931_ Secure Board, XTS 2500 Model III DES, DES-XL, DES-OFB but it is not listed on my MOL. Is this sold as part of an assembly or just not available to everyone?

Thanks,

Mike

As long as the radio is digital capable no firmware changes are required.

You have the correct part number as it is shown in my MOL:

Item Number. PMLN4931A
SECURE BRD M2 DES,DES-XL,DES-OFB

You might want to call the 800 number and ask them what's up.

Nevermind..... I posted this the same time ESCOMM did.

Thanks.....

(Any idea what the price of that is? I'm interested too since mine is ADP only right now.)

Ok. I misunderstood 'Q159AC ADD: XTS2500 HARDWARE ENCRYPTION' from another thread to be a flash option.

Strange thing about the part number. An MOL search shows 'PMLN4931A' as having no matches and quickbuy shows nothing either. A search of PMLN49xx goes from PMLN4929A to PMLN4932A with nothing in between. Weird...

Secure hardware is generally above price book and not orderable by the average Joe.

Correct me if I'm wrong, this would indicate why it does not show up in MOL.

Same deal with the radios themselves, I don't believe you can order an XTS/XTL Series radio on MOL.
