RF adapter on the XTS series portables (NTN8327)
Does the NTN8327 RF adapter introduce loss to the radio's existing antenna? I don't see how it could possibly be physically switching from the top antenna to the side terminal so I assume that both the side port and top antenna are "hot" all the time? This seems to me to be a problem. Any input?

Re: RF adapter on the XTS series portables (NTN8327)
There is a thingie on the speaker/mic connector that pushes in the center of the round
brass circle on the antenna's base adapter. Pushing with the thingie redirects the RF from
the antenna on the radio to the antenna on the PS speaker/mic. If/when I use the PS unit,
which isn't often, I always use the dummy top plug in place of the radio's antenna.

Oh well I'll be damned. I just pushed in the the center thingie and look at that. Stupendous. I assume this works properly with an XTVA too.

That is primarily what it was designed to work with.nmfire10 wrote: I assume this works properly with an XTVA too.

And if you need 1 or 200, the City of Mesa, AZ is selling them brand new in the box for $30. You can get a discount if you buy more than one.

Anyone who buys an 8327 should get the Motorola wrench that's made to tighten the unit on the radio. Without the wrench it's an awful and almost impossible job to snug down the adapter on the antenna port. I was recently told by a reliable Board source that Motorola now does NOT include the wrench when you buy the adapter.

I used a pair of spring clip pliers. They are narrow enough to slip in the groove and tighten it down

Does pushing in the center thingie also disconnect the top antenna?
