P25 system? As in 7.x ASTRO25 trunking (9600bps control)? Gotta have a special flash and a specific firmware... Moto strongly recommends ASTRO25 radios to operate on that platform.

Those radios won't even do conventional P25...

Not quite.. they're VSELP radios. Either way, P25 in any form ain't happening without new firmware and a flashcode bump.

You said that Astro25 trunking wasn't supported at all for the VHF Astro line in my thread last month. Now reading this, you make it sound like it is in fact possible with the right feature set. Which is it?

It isn't. The farthest you can go is Smartzone Omnilink in an "Astro Portable" line VHF or UHF radio. If I had to guess (speculate), I'd wager they just never wrote HOST firmware supporting it for VHF and UHF OBT. Remember also that to do it on 800, you have to have a very specific HOST f/w version: R06.70.00.

The proper R06 firmware, along with matching DSP and ASTRO25-enabled flash, will support ASTRO25 trunking for *800MHZ systems only*. OBT (VHF/UHF) ASTRO25 trunking is not supported in the ASTRO line - you must have an ASTRO25 platform radio (XTS1500/2500/4000/5000, SSE5000, XTL1500/2500/5000) with proper flashcode.

Which is what you said in my post last month, but this guy has also been talking about VHF in this thread so when you posted your comment above it sent up a flag in my head.

Carry on, nothing to see here.
