HT1250 HC Eprom Error?

HT1250 HC Eprom Error?

I have a customer who dropped off a HT1250 VHf Portable and says that ever so often it comes up "Eprom HC Error" I cannot get this to duplicate right now so i'm not sure if he is reading the error code right or what. I've heard of Eprom CS Errors and HW Errors but what is a HC Error?

HC error is not listed in the basic service manual along with the HW and CS errors. Did you put the radio in button test mode and check that all display characters are working?

Ok, Bare with me as i am not a technician, How do i put it in button test mode?

1. Push side button 2(below the PTT) five times within 10 seconds after powering up.
2. Push and hold SB2 until you see "LCD test" appear on the display
3. Push SB1(top, above PTT) to illuminate each block of pixels in the display(if everything's OK, you should see rectangular blocks of pixels across the bottom line of the display).

Ok, All pixels were good and all icons and buttons checked out fine

Can you tell us what version of the firmware is currently loaded?

If you can't force a failure, it may be wise to reflash with the current firmware(R05.09.14) after saving the tuning data and codeplug. Maybe someone else has seen the HC error that you report, and I'm sure they'll chime in if they have.
