Dead Minitor V

Post by Tron »

Have a couple in Min V pagers that are dead when the battery is attached ( batteries are new & charged ), but pager will power up when in the desk charger base ( with or w/o battery ).

Any thoughts on this problem?

I haven't touched a Minitor in years. But, obviously it is time to trace out the battery contacts. Probably a very simple problem.

Unfortunately, this is somewhat of a common problem with the Minitor V.
The only fix is a trip to the Motorola Service Center.
I have one here that is about to make the trip South for this problem.
I believe the cause for this particular pager's problems was the user connected the Min V charger base
to the power supply (wall wart) for his Motorola portable, 18 volts instead of 8 volts, Oops!
It also blew the Minitor V battery.

I need to send mine to the MSS. Can someone hook me up with the 800 number and give me a idea on what the cost would be

Call Mot at 800-422-4210

You'll have to go on their web page at: https://businessonline.motorola.com and set up an account so you can send it in.

I've seen this problem twice, and both times it turned out to be that the end user neglected to remove the sticker over the battery contacts on the new battery.

KISS principle in action!

I've seen that too, but not in this case, unfortunately.
