I have heard that if you were to have upgraded the firmware above R04.XX,to the R05.xx,you loose FPP function if you have both Q52 and Q53 in your flash code. Those that only has Q52 without Q53 is ok is what I have heard.

What is your firmware?HOST&DSP?
In Memory of those that serve.

Seal Team Six

HOST and DSP is R02.00

you mean only need Q52 and make fpp work?

Sounds like Q52 and Q53 are present. FPP will not work with Q52 present.

This is correct, if you upgrade beyond R04.XX and have both Q52 AND Q53 present with trunking features, your FPP will leave the radio, if you only have Q53 present no matter what is in the features FPP is still operable and present in the radio menu. For example: a real flash from my personal APX radio: Firmware R05.05.00 DSP R05.05.00 This is similar to XTS series with going past R09.XX with trunking and FPP.

Platform: APX7000

Q806: ASTRO IMBE Digital Operation
G996: Over the Air Provisioning
Q498: Hardware Multikey Encryption w/ OTAR
QA00572: Primary Band: UHF Range 2
QA00574: Secondary Band: VHF
QA00579: Enable Dual Band Operation
QA01749: Legacy SW System Key Enable
H38: SmartZone Systems Operation
QA00782: Enable GPS Operation
Q947: APCO Packet Data Interface
Q53: FCC FPP And Radio Cloning
Q387: Conventional Voting Scan
Q173: SmartZone Omnilink MultiZone Operation
QA00580: Enable TDMA Operation
Q361: ASTRO 25 9600 Baud Trunking
Q445: Fireground Accountability Software
QA00577: Front Display and Full Keypad (M3)

Kilgore: Smell that? You smell that?
Lance: What?
Kilgore: Napalm, son. Nothing in the world smells like that.
Kilgore: I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end...

For non federal users... the APX needs both Q52 (federal FPP) and Q53 (FCC FPP) and a side connector key dongle. FPP will not be displayed in the menu until the dongle is attached. If the radio is Q52 only then no dongle is needed. Mine was flashed for both Q52 & Q53 by mistake at the factory, I then had Q53 removed from the flash. But then again I work for a federal agency..... In short Q52 makes the radio FPP, Q53 then makes the FPP needing a dongle and legal for everyone else. A radio with just Q53 will not FPP.

The above facts are "nutty but true" and mean that the Q52/53 setup for a APX7K is different from an XTS5K. I went through the same "clarification" recently when one of my local gurus explained it to me.
