question about P1225

would a VHF P1225 take a frequency 168.8625 (assuming its the right band split)
I am thinking it will because I think thats whay its called a 1225 it will take a 12.5 or 25 freq am I right?

Joe,

You are dead-on, absolutely, one-hundred-percent correct.
The 1225 number was intended to convey the radio's capability
to do both 25 kHz and 12.5 kHz splits.

While we're on the topic of P1225s, I have a question about configurations available for the VHF model. The overwhelming majority of them seem to be two buttons and no display. I see a few with a display and three buttons, but they mostly seem to be LS units. I've never seen one with a display, three buttons, and a keypad, even though Motorola's sales literature shows one.

Are all three configurations indeed available in a conventional VHF model?

Ideally, I'd love to find a VHF display model with the three option buttons. A keypad would be okay if it would allow me to edit the scan list.

Would anyone care to clarify this for me?

We sold a number of the full keypad w/display models to a customer who was using a phone interconnect way back in the day, so they definitely existed...just not very popular.

ok on the P1225 VHF can I compose a freq list that has a mix of 12.5khz and 25khz channels in it....or will all my chans have to be one or the other

Each channel is individually selectable as either wide or narrow, just like the M1225 mobiles.

Does a P1225 with display and/or full keypad allow for a user-editable scan list like the M1225?

I have the UHF P1225 with keypad and the three option buttons.
And I have not found any option for user definable scan.
Which is a real bummer.
They are good little radios, but it sure would be nice to be able to change the scan list.

It bears some similarities to GP300's which do have a nuisance delete assignable to a side button, might be available on the P1225.

P1225 were a so .. so .. radio.. bad in the rain causing water damage on the board and always had a damaged resistor below the antenna that caused no TX power.. another problem was the casing flaring open when dropped by the radio casing.. The speaker jack was another main issue along with the volume pot.. my advice.. get something better ..

Well, they seem to be affordable ... at least the basic models. Since I have yet to run across a display model that wasn't an LS, I may be in for a rude surprise.
