Us merry band of misfits will likely be there (two already posted...hi guys). Starting to work out details now. Not sure if we will do the club 4-space thing again this year or not, good chance though. I bet no one will want the spaces near the sh1t fountain. If they don't just rope it off as a precautionary measure beforehand.

One of these years I am camping on-site, if only for a day. There seems to be a ripe counter-culture that possesses that place at night.

In b4 hams are 'ripe' and lack 'culture'

I definitely would be !!

I'm also bringing a friend who is into radios as well along for the 12+ hour drive.

Also, is anyone that is going to Dayton coming for anywhere in New England ? I was thinking a convoy would be a great idea ! More specifically anyone from the CT / MA / NY area.

Has anyone booked thier rooms yet ?

Anything I should be aware of / know since this is my first time going to Dayton ?

Where is everyone staying at ( for those of us that are flying / driving in ) ??

I tried to book a hotel last night, and there is NO hotels left within a 10 or so mile range. So, I ended up booking a room at the Days Inn on Miamisburg Centerville Road in Dayton ( it's a little over 16 miles away, or about a 28 minute drive to the grounds ). Anyone else staying there as well by chance ?

Also, dinner on Friday night would be great ! I'm also up for drinks on Saturday night as well :)

By this time you're usually looking at 20mi out or so, unless you want to pay big $$$. The key is to book right at the end of the year prior's hamvention. I dont know if I'm gonna get to stay this year. May just be a leave at 7AM and leave up there whenever trip.

I stayed at that hotel last year. It's not too bad. Nothing special, but not bad either.

I just booked a room at the Drury yesterday for about $100 less than the rest of you for the weekend. I think they have about 2-3 left.

myself and a group of moto hams will be at the Golden corral at 6611 Miller ln in dayton friday night around 6:30 pm. this is fairly close to alot of the hotels that hams usually stay, in the vicinity of miller rd. if you are interested in coming, bring your treasures, im interested in seeing all the cool radios and deals anyone has picked up at the fest :) talk in will be 151.880 and for UHF users 462.7125 FRS analog/P25/NXDN RAN 0
key up for a second or 2 before speaking due to me scanning the freqs.

also, for any of you that have ICOM/KENWOOD NXEDGE NXDN digital, ill have 2 radios with me, at least part of the time.
VHF 151.880 and UHF 462.7125 RAN 0 (if there's other NXDN users that have their own freqs, post them here and ill try to get them in my radio before the trip)
(im not expecting much VHF NXDN activity, so to simplify how many frequencies i use, im going to listen on 151.880 for NXDN also)

im going to be staying in a 11 story hotel in downtown Dayton Thursday and friday nite so i should have good coverage on all these freqs and modes while staying in the hotel.

Of the usual batlabs freqs that are listed each year, who actually uses each one?
i have heard and talked to other batlabbers on 151.880 in analog and P25 multiple years, and the VHF ham P25 channel last year, but cant say i have heard other batlabbers on any of the other freqs, in all the years i have been going.......

That Golden Corral is going to be completely packed at that time.

Usually, all the goofing around (and it's aalll goofing around) is on the 880 VHF channel, Astro and analog.
The ham chans are ok, too. More decorum.
There's a keyup here and there on the other channels but no reason to go to much trouble to scan them.

FYI anyone traveling northbound/southbound I75 in tennessee...........................

http://www.lex18.com/news/crossover-lan ... ico-tenn-/

'Crossover' Lane Being Built on I-75 Near Jellico, Tenn.

Posted: Mar 12, 2012 4:47 PM
Updated: Mar 12, 2012 4:52 PM

The Tennessee Department of Transportation is constructing a "crossover lane" on Interstate 75 to help southbound traffic get around the area of an embankment failure that occurred Friday near the Kentucky border.

The embankment failure forced closure of both southbound lanes of I-75 near Jellico, Tenn.

When the crossover is complete, one lane of southbound I-75 traffic will be shifted to one northbound lane. There will be two lanes for northbound traffic, and one lane for southbound traffic. This temporary traffic pattern will remain in place until repairs to the slide area can be completed.

The crossover lane is expected to be in place by Friday, March 16. It is not yet known how long it will take to make repairs and reopen I-75 South to normal traffic.

Until the crossover lane is complete, two detour routes remain in place, beginning at Exit 160 at Jellico:

Regular traffic: Turn left to follow US 25W to LaFollette, Tenn., then back to I-75 South at Exit 134 in Caryville, Tenn.

Wide loads: Turn right to follow SR 297 West to SR 63, then back to I-75 South at Exit 141.
