ASTRO 25 CPS R17.00 Released

Post by khw »

ASTRO 25 Portable CPS R17.00.00 ===============================================
- Windows 7 is supported in R15.00.00 CPS and higher.
- The vendor has phased out support for the parallel port adapter DS1410E. Therefore Motorola does not support the parallel port on Windows 7 or x64 bit machines.
- If both portable and mobile CPS's are used, it is recommended to update both at the same time, and tutorials should be installed with BOTH versions.
- POP25 feature is NOT supported with VISTA operating system.
New CPS Features Supported: =============================
- Increase the number of zones & channels on the XTS 1500 / 2500 Model 1.5. XTS 1500 now supports 16 Zones / 256 Channels XTS 2500 Model 1.5 now supports 16 zones / 256 channels
- Unlimited Advanced system Keys can now disable Write Protected Radios when the matching
ASK is attached and loaded.
- Secure Connection between CPS and ARS (ARS Data Administrator): When performing POP25 Operations (for both batch mode and single radio
programming), the CPS now supports communicating with the Automatic Registration Service (ARS)
via a secure connection for the purpose of protecting sensitive radio information,
such as the IP address of the radio and whether it is present on the system or not. Customers that do not use the ARS, but connect to radios directly using known IP Addresses, are not affected by this change. Customers that do connect to the ARS must now install the ARS Data Administrator and configure the ARS information,
such as the IP Address of the ARS server, port, secure or clear connection mode, and certificates if secure mode is selected. The installation of the ARS Data Administrator and configuration of the ARS connection information must be
performed via an account with administrator privileges. Once this configuration is done, any
standard user account will be able to select the previously configured ARS connection parameters via the POP25/Batch programming screens in the CPS.
ARS Data Administrator can be found in the tools menu only if the CPS is run as an
administrator.
If UAC is ON, elevate privileges by: 1- Right click on the CPS icon 2- Select 'Run as administrator' from the drop down menu 3- Provides credentials as prompted rick-clicking
For more information on UAC, please see your Operating System help.
During un-installation of the ARS Data Administrator application, always remove the
“ARS Data Store” Data Administrator application when prompted. - Changes in default settings:
Page 1Portable_ReadMe.txt
The default path for the Software System Key files has been changed * previous location: <COMMONFILES> ...\Program Files\Common
Files\Motorola\SysKeys * the new location: <CommonAppData> ...\All Users\Application
Data\Motorola\SysKeys
Detailed information for each of these features can be found in the CPS help. Help can be accessed from the CPS menu by selecting Help-> CPS Help Topics.
New Radio Features Supported: =============================
IMPORTANT NOTE: Firmware version R17.00.00 is required for the following features to work in the radio:
- Vote Scan Improvement (Mixed Vote Scan & Channel Scan) - Talk Group to FPP and ability to select output power via softkey
For a detailed description of each feature, please see the radio's User Manual.
Changes to Default Values: ==========================
-Please note that starting with this CPS version, the 'Emergency Revert Channel' field in
the ASTRO tab for each Conventional Personality will become invalid if it references a Channel whose system is a DVRS ASTRO System with Dynamic Regrouping Enabled.
Customer Reported Issue Resolved: ==================================
- Radio displays 'Key fail with no audio' with Trunking analog radios with Multikey

ability to select output power via softkey
What exactly it means? I will be able to select output power on my XTS2500?

Motorola needs to get in gear and get support for 64bit computers for all current products. I would like to see how the " Talk Group to FPP " works in FPP.

Me too...especially when modifications to anything in the TRS from the system down in CPS is supposed to require the system key. Will the radio now ignore this and allow anyone with the correct level FW be able to allow this feature and program on the fly?

I have a Polaris PA-1 RIB with a parallel throughput. I have upgraded to WIN7, but I still have an XP machine somewhere. Is there an optimal CPS version that may work on Win7 with a PA-1 to program an XTS3000? Should I either use an older CPS with XP or get a new RIB and use R17.00. I am an end user, so I am not looking to invest in equipment/software to run a radio shop.

Be careful with this update, it seemed to default the syskey folder to a new location under the doc and settings/all user/application data........ I am glad I caught that as it could throw you off big time if you were not paying attention. I really like doing software updates every week or so on all the programming pc's, what a waste of time. :x

What's a "parallel throughput"? There's nothing parallel on the PA-1, nor does any RIB use a parallel port.

ASTRO25 won't program an XTS3000. You need ASTRO Portable, latest version R05.03.00, which will run under Win7.

Thanks. It is serial. R05.03.00 turned me back around in the right direction. I was in the wrong thread.

ABOUT TIME, now the XTS2500 can have MENU "PWR" selection like the 5000. It only took 17 releases to unlock this "feature" for the 2500...just tried this on a VHF XTS2500 with HOST/DSP V14 and it works! No hacking!

Correct, firmware releases typically follow CPS releases by a couple of weeks.

Has anyone had SUPER long download times to write to an XTS5000 with 17? Using serial cable RKN4106A we are getting between 4:40 to 5:00 mins to write the Codeplug. The Firmware of the units are a sample of what we have.. 12.00.13 and 16.00...

are you using voice files? I've experienced this if the codeplug is crammed full and you're using channel announcement.

Had no problems with firmware up date
the cps now has a soft high low power selection option people may be interested that this function works on a 4 meg radio r9.00.41 so i suspect it may work from that firmware up till the latest
i did notice it took a little longer to program the 4 meg radio possibly it had to upgrade parts of codeplug

Yup, noticed that as well as saving and opening codeplugs takes considerably longer now.....annoying!

Well, they made APX R07 so much better... to maintain a zero sum, they had to make something much worse!

I tried it today and it zipped right along. Less than 30 seconds to write the codeplug on an 8 meg XTS2500 using a Windows 7 machine and serial cable. I didn't notice any difference in speed as compared to R16.

CPS 17 no likey XTS4000.

Unrecoverable 01/82 errors. Went back to CPS 16.01 and was able to recover. Besides some obvious com issues, at one point it thought the XTS4000 was an M3 XTS2500. Not good karma at all.

DON'T MESS WITH MY UHF XTS4000!

XTS/XTL Firmware Update - R16.00.02 release. The R17.00.00 release has been temporarily removed due to reported field issues. We recommend that field installation of this release be discontinued.

Take it from me, it's not just the firmware it's also the CPS R17.00.00 don't use either until M does something about them, I have had twenty 01/82 errors, on both 2500s and 5000s and a 5000 that just came back from the depot, so when all is said and done, stay away from, firmware and CPS R17 until they do some thing and it will be soon, the depot is having the same trouble.

On the portable it is dependent on firmware and CPS.
On the mobile you need to purchase a flash update from /\/\oto.
