XTL5000 bricked??

Post by CFD351 »

Was just working on programming a couple of XTL5000's. VHF 50 Watt with W4 heads. During the programming of one the computer froze and now the radio is showing FL 01/82. I have tried reading another codeplug from similar radio and writing to it. I have tried writing to it with previous codeplug from radio. I have tried cloning. Am I sensing a depot trip? Also what is the current flat repair rate? Hoping for good news but planning on bad news.............all help is appreciated. Thanks!

I take it your getting an error of some sort when trying to write to the radio? Also what cable are you using, usb or serial?

I am using a USB to serial adapter with am OEM motorola serial cable through the front mic jack. Unsure of firmware version I would have to check wouldn't surprise me if it was 11. I reprogrammed 12 xts5000 and a sister to the xtl5000 all in the same manner. Also I am using Astro 25Mobile 16.00.00. Thanks.

Also yes I get an error on the computer as well. The radio will say program than I get s dialogue box that comes up that says something about hardware or software failure work some sort of hex code. Than the radio cycles off and than back on with the fail code.

Last resort before sending it off would be getting a computer with a real serial port and using an OEM serial cable.

Thanks guys! Jason, I'll give that a try. Worst case scenario is I'll have to send it in. I'll update you when I find out more! Thanks again!
