XTS2500 4MB Channel Capacity

Post by SoCalRescue »

Hi Guys:

So I am sorry, I know this has been brought up times before, however, I am finding it difficult to find a clear and concise answer.

I just bought an XTS2500 4MB radio. I know it is older with a host of 9.xx. I don't have it in my possession yet so I don't have much more to tell you other than it's flashed with Q52 and Q53. Can anyone tell me what my max channel capacity should be with this radio?

I am planning to just have one zone of FPP enabled personalities - how many non-fpp personalities should I be left with? I have heard 240 regardless, I have heard others say 512. I am just looking for a definite answer and maybe a formula for how this is to be figured out. Is the a rule of thumb? Like the amount of channels allowed with fpp is X while with no fpp personalities it's Y. Just looking for a concrete answer.

Thanks for looking!

A 4 meg 'AN' 2500 has to be set up with 15 zones of 16 channels. No more, no less. All channels will be FPP in your radio. There is no way around that. Also, you'll be limited to one MDC system and one Astro system.

You asked how many channels a 4MB XTS2500 is capable of. 2047 is your answer.

Says who? I have an "AN" revision 2500 that lets me set up FPP and trunking in any combination. I've got about 5 MDC systems and a few astro systems set up as well.

Just because something isn't supported doesn't mean it can't be done.

Pretty sure the codeplug restriction came about with R10 CPS?

Don't know. R10 sounds right. I haven't received my cable for the 2.5k yet but from what I have heard is 240 is the max "supported" and it has to be within 15 zones like Mike said. Also, I am due to lose trunking because I have Q52 and Q53 when I write in R16. Any chance of the newer CPS getting rid of the zone limit for the FPP enabled radio?

You're correct with the R10. I'm not sure exactly if you'd be able to keep it using R16, but there are certainly a few interesting combinations out there. I know of someone who has Host and DSP 14, using CPS14 who has 832 modes, all of which can do FPP, he's also got SmartZone OmniLink enabled.

All I want is to be able to have FPP and at the minimu have my 240 channels, no trunking. Is there any reason why I wouldn't be able to keep this when reading my radio in R16 in the next couple of days? I'm keeping this set up simple... just want to change the menu options, scan, etc... But if you think I will lose my FPP by using R16, than I guess I wont... Let me know what you think.

What's your flashcode? That's what matters.

Hasn't as of yet been used with a CPS higher than 9. I have CPS 16 and I want to keep FPP. Am I good?
