MotoTrbo antenna ok on an XTS?

Post by JRUTA »

As it reads, will a Mototrbo antenna work properly on an XTS25k? (vhf, non GPS)

Thanks,
John

It looks like a trbo antenna will fit on an XTS radio, not sure if it works properly though. It does seem to thread on fine, and make connection with the center pin.

My XTS is an 800, but all of our trbo stuff is UHF, so I can't really do a good test other than seeing that it does screw on, and that I do get some signal on the 800 with the UHF antenna on it.

I use a PMAD4086a VHF on my XTS5000 works fine. Its shorter and the rounded tip doesn't get caught up in my bunker gear as easily

I have had customers use TRBO antennas on XTS radios with no ill effects

I know you can use the NAF5037A on the XPR6580 and Motorola says they do not "sanction" it but off the record they say it's OK

Thanks all who replied. Yeah, I like the idea of a shorter antenna, and the rounded tip not to catch on anything.

I use Jedi antennas on my Trbo equipment, so I don't see why it wouldn't work the other way around. GARY

Trbo antenna's are working just fine on APX's as well . . . .

PMAD4095 has better responses on return loss tests then the Visar's for the upper end of VHF

More testing to follow

If the lights are out when you leave the station and then come on the second you key up, you know you have enough power.

I run the VHF TRBO antenna on my APX's since they're over an inch shorter. They work great!
