Here's a weird phenomenon. A few months ago I programmed my xts3000 to monitor my county's trunked system. When I originaly did the programming, I had the coverage type set to Smartzone to work with the county's sytem. The problem I encountered was the radio would key up and tx. I asked around and through r0f I was able to use the TX inhibit feature by changing the coverage to WAC AMSS and affiliation on PTT. This works great. I can listen by scanning or just selecting a channel without the fear of TX. The two possition switch is set to TX Inhibit in both possitions in the trunked personalities
Here's the weird part:
The fire company I run with uses a conventional uhf channel for local operations. I have this channel programmed in the radio with the ability to TX. When I power up the radio with this channel selected and key up the radio to talk it works fine, if I then switch to a trunked channel I can also key up the radio and tx on the trunked channel. I stumbled on this by accident the other day, luckly on a tac channel the county doesn't monitor regularly. If I power up the radio with a trunked channel selected the TX Inhibit works, or If I power up to a conventional channel and switch to a trunked WITHOUT keying up the radio first the TX Inhibit works.
Weird huh?

I have the two-position switch configured for tx inhibit (in both positions) in trunked mode and when I had some conventional channels programmed, the switch was set to TX inhibit and the other as blank. If I was on a conventional channel in the position where I could talk, and I turned the radio off and switched it to the trunked systems during power-up I could transmit on them which was a bad thing so, I disabled it altogether.
