PMKN4147 Cable Pinout

Post by Forts »

Does anyone happen to have/know the pinout for the PMKN4147 cable (for XPR2500 etc). It appears to just be a straight thru cable, and it pains me to drop $25 on something I can make here in 4 minutes. I've already made a rear cable, but for the radio that's mounted in my Jeep it's a pain in the butt to get to (plus I have ignition sense plugged into it as well).

Thanks!!

Add the 'programming' leads to your existing connector and another jack for your programming cable.

Not sure if it is straight through. There are 3 wires and a shield on the 10 pin RJ 10 pin plug. I don't see continuity on one of the wires, so there may something in line. It's USB B+, so may not be needed.

RJ pin 1 to USB pin 3
RJ pin 6 to USB pin 4 and USB shell
RJpin 7 to USB??
RJ pin 10 to USB pin 2

This is how I counted the USB plug pins:

This is how I counted the RJ plug pins (except it's a 10-pin)

Thanks very much for sharing that! I'll take a look, see if I can make something work, and report back.

I've considered doing this, but it would be more convenient to just have a front programming cable (I have 3 XPR-2500s that I can use it on). I may very well end up going this route though.

Remember that Motorola numbered the RJ mic jacks backwards from the US RJ45, ect, standard. So does Kenwood.

Thanks Will.

I used the standard convention when counting the RJ plug, but if someone were referencing the XPR2500 or CM200/300d manual (which doesn't seem to exist), it would be confusing.
