DAYTON 2017! Who's in? The official 2017 thread
Moderators can you make this post a sticky, like each year in the past.
Whos up for Dayton Hamvention this year? It will be at located in Xenia, Ohio…..about 15 miles SE of Downtown Dayton.
Hamvention will be held May 19, 20 and 21, 2017
I have compiled some information to help make your planning more efficient.
The Greene County Fair and Expo Center

As of this posting, it appears all of the Xenia hotels are booked up solid. But there are still some available around Dayton, but those are booking up fast aswell so if you are going….. book NOW.
I picked up a room at the Hampton inn Dayton mall for 169 a night and they have an indoor pool, good hot breakfast (sometimes bacon), free cookies at the front desk and its about 1 block (walking distance) from a Golden corral.
The hotel is between I75 and I 675. I’ve stayed here for several other years and its always a nice time, the pool is indoor and quite peaceful. I usually listen to 146.520 while on hotel property. Its about 15 miles from the fairgrounds.
Usually each year I post the traditional batlabs freqs, but its hit or miss whether there’s activity on them.
The most common freq I hear is the longtime use of 151.880, in recent years I have heard various modes, analog, P25,DMR,NXDN on it. The UHF freqs in the list are usually less common than 151.880 some years not hearing any Batlabs user on them.
Are there new common Batlabs freqs/modes in use now? Can you update this thread with more relevant Freqs and modes/codes as of 2017.

I'll be making my first trip to Dayton this year . I took your advice and got the last single in an affordable motel on the east south of Dayton near the Air Force base. Much cheaper to fly into Cincinnati and drive the rental the 54 miles. I'll have my APX7000 and the new M1 android/ DMR radio. I'm ready for DMR, conventional and P25.

I'll be headed to Xenia as well. Can't wait. I'll have my XTS5000 for P25.
Is there any "official" Batlabs 2m P25 frequency that gets used every year?

Yeah flea market was really good despite all the mud. Lots of DMR XPR6550's there and saw a few APX radios for sale as well. Bunch of XTS and ASTRO Sabers for sale as usual. Even an XTS2250.
Lots of super cheap $1-$5 OEM speaker mics. Got some really nice mics new in bag for $5.
Also some great deals on test equipment.
It seems like there was a lot more actual radio equipment here this year than last year at Hara. From what I remember from last year there just a lot of old computer stuff and not as much actual radio stuff.
I brought my XTS5000 and was listening on a few frequencies but never made any P25 contacts. Oh well. DMR was sure popular. Lots of hams with DMR radios and lots of XPR6550's.
Anyone going to Huntsville Hamfest? That's next one I'm headed to.

There was a few of us that know each other via facebook that used P25. I was on both P25, and DMR. Lots of DMR activity this year.
