We have been doing firmware updates on our APX radios. We are doing the current 18.21 firmware update. Encryption keys are lost with the firmware update.
No problem reinserting encryption key in APX7000 Portables.
With APX7500's WITH REMOTE HEADS we cannot load encryption keys via the control head. Usually when you attach the connector to the radios it locks in and says KEYLOADER. When going in through the remote head we don't see any change/message. Of the two remote head APX7500's we have done so far both have had the problem. On one of the two we were able to reinsert the keys after removing it from the vehicle and attaching to the port on the main radio body. On another one which we attempted to do in the vehicle, attaching to the port on the main body did not have any effect. One of the complete APX7500's with head attached we did have some difficulty getting the key in. but after a few attempts we were able to do the reinsert.
KVL4000's can be a bit quirky. We have broken them down and rebooted - tried other programming cables etc without success in the remote head issue key reinsertion problem.
Anybody else with this problem ?

There is no such procedure at all. You must connect KVL cable with adapter to the port on radio drawer only (in case of remote head).riverandsnow wrote:remote head issue key reinsertion problem.
I am biggest fan of XTS2500 and ASTRO Digital Saber.

You can load keys from a remote head. You must first provision the radio with the kvl 4000. You need cable HKN6183B first.
