Trying to add AES-256 to a XTS3000 radio
Hi everyone. I have a Motorola KVL3000 with AES-256 flashes left on the PCMCIA card. I have been trying to add AES-256 to the UCM module of a Motorola XTS3000 800Mhz radio, but I keep getting a programming error. I have tried in Astro 25 mode and ASN mode. No luck. The radio is updated to the last EMC and firmware versions. When I click "Add" I get a query to the module, then a programming fail message. Any help or advice? In CPS I have "Secure Hardware Equipped" checked. Thanks.

you may want to check the UCM version in the radio and how many modes it already has installed.
Those can only do three and needs a fairly late version UCM for AES.
The radio has to be on the latest firmware as well to support AES ....sounds like you are there.

Re: Trying to add AES-256 to a XTS3000 radio
Thanks for your reply. Every radio I had tried to update, I first upgraded to the last version for the XTS3000 radio, R07.71.07. After some research, indeed the issue may be the UCM in the XTS3000 radios which were fairly old. I did try to update a XTS3000 radio which was relatively new with a late UCM. When I click "add", it shows "progress", but it really is just stuck and does not upgrade.
Another issue may be the version of the upgrade file on the PCMCIA card. it is version R05.07.10, not version R05.07.15. When I update a Astro 25 radio, the version shows R05.07.10. I have to use CPS to get it to R05.07.15. Would you happen to know how I could upgrade the firmware for the file on the PCMCIA card? I contacted Motorola I got a "Device not supported" reply. Is there a particular software or file I need to upgrade the PCMCIA card and file? Thanks.
