Post by ARfire735 »

I posted in the For sale forum, but I thought maybe the Astro crowd might help me out, Im looking for a VHF XTS 3000, one of watchbuddy's "whored-out" codeplug models, if someone knows where one is, let me know.

by the way i can never get a reply from him, or i probably would have bought from him.

Maybe there was no reply because it depends on how and what you asked for...

Define " whored out " for me..I hear that thrown around alot....if you want ABC as a feature set but can only 'officially' buy A&B together or B&C together. BUT the radio does work with ABC together fine and can get it why is that a whore? Seems more like a princess to me....you can have it all...:D

While I canot dispute any perceived problems others maybe having with Nick, all I can relate that within the time frame of (5) business days. I have paid for, sent out for repair and have received back my radio as repaired and purchsed.

We have had excellent email communication and telephone consultation.

I should have had the pruchased radio one day sooner, but it did make more sense to ship both together to save on shipping. How can one quarrel with that?? I would have done the same thing and I cannot and will not perceive that as a problem....he is aces to me right now.

I would NOT hesitate to use and or, reccomend Nick to anyone looking at the ASTRO line.
Regards,

NickJC

A term started by r0f on this board. It's not a reflection of how good/bad the Flashcode is, but rather points out the fact it there are so many radios out there that now have it, many more than Nick has ever made. It was funny the first time...

Ahh  it does give a very negative impression, as witnessed by my misunderstanding of why it was being used to describe something that works..

thanks !

I know MODAT was an option in one of his flashcodes but I heard that there was problems with it? I know my radio I got from him has modat but I never attempted to use it at all.

r0f wrote:r0f's official definition of the "whored out" flashcode:

Any ASTRO series radio containing the 591008-4F1E00-9 Flashcode. This Flashcode is WHORED OUT because it contains many features that are not compatible with each other, and nearly ever other feature ever designed by Motorola, which may or may not ever be useful to the owner.

Hey, at least I'm famous for something around here!

....and to think, my radio has been upgrade from 1-000004-000004 to this whored out code by choice.

I can't live without Digital ID display at the very least.

I forget.. Do you have a model II, or III? If it's a III, I can send you a less whored out F/C, with digital ID display. 540008-000400-3 to be exact.

It's a model 2, however, I'm not really looking to go through all of the trouble and multiple RSS's to get it changed. Thrice was enough

No problems what so ever!

Mine works like a charm.
In fact the Authority I work for still have MX3xx's in service with Modat!
