Hi folks,
I've got one of Nicks 800 MHz ASTRO-25 radios, and I'm having a really wierd problem with zones and modes.
In a zone, if I setup channels 1-15 in a zone, there seems to be a corruption in the memory of the radio.
Here is what happens, I can step thru each of the channels using the channel selector at the top - BUT, the following is the order in which the channels shown
(Ch selector --> Channel displayed)
CH-1 --> CH-1
CH-2 --> CH-2
CH-3 --> CH-1 **
CH-4 --> CH-2 **
CH-5 --> CH-5
CH-6 --> CH-6
CH-7 --> CH-7
CH-8 --> CH-8
CH-9 --> CH-9
CH-10 --> CH-10
... and so on
Further more, on channels 10 and 11 it will briefly blink CH-9's mode, and then flash over finally to the proper 10 or 11.
I've been programming these radios for ever, and I've even tried different known working codeplugs in this radio, but this problem happens with every zone, every codeplug, every flashcode.
Has anyone ever seen this before? It HAS to be a firmware issue, since it happens on multiple flashcodes and codeplugs.
HOST R07.08.00
DSP N08.08.02
Any ideas? Anyone know of any problems with the above firmware?

Probably a bad switch. The rotary 16 position actually is a mechanical hexadecimal encoder. Position 1 = 0000, 2=0001, 3=0010,4=0011, etc. If the wiper isn't making good contact with the second order bit at the low end - then 3 and 4 would look just like 1 and 2. If the same bit is missing from 11, you get 9.
You can put the radio in test mode to check the switch. Turn the radio on, press side button 3 five times. After RF Test is displayed, press side button 1 once. CH test will be displayed. Then press and hold the top button. All the display segments will come on.
Then turn the rotary. It should show 4/0 through 4/ 15 corresponding to channels 1 to 16.
