S-10 Blazer Spectra install

Post by toyradios »

Looking for some help to install a Spectra trunk-mount radio in a new (2000) Chevy S-10 Blazer.

This Blazer has power seats and the optional cassette deck that's below the ash tray.

I'm thinking of removing the ash-tray to mount the control-head, but cannot find a suitable locating to mount the chassis.

Hoping someone has done one of these installs that can give me some ideas.

Thanks
Bill

Well I just pulled my low band maratrac out of my 2000 s-10 same set up as yours. If you dont use the tape deck like me(cds only) I removed the tape deck and put the control head in its place, very nice looking, and not easy for mischievious passerbys to see. My route for the control cable was under the moldind of the drivers side, just push the wires under the carpet to be able to pop the molding back in. I installed the actual radio on the driver side cargo area against the wall infront of the jack storage area. The best way to run power in from the battery is on the lower pass side fire wall where the FM stereo antenna comes in. Hope this helps

Mike - how are you mounting the Maratrac to this area ? I considered this area as well, but it's all plastic.

Do you have any pictures ?

Thanks

I know the plastic seems flimsy...so i got my hands on a aluminum no parking sign an bolted it to that...like a huge washer!! Sorry i just traded in the car for an impala...hence my impala suggestion post..
Let me know if you need any more assistance.
