Can an Astro Spectra have GE-Star

Post by jmr061 »

I need to know if an Astro Spectra (either via flashcode or enabling some option in the CPS) can have GE-Star.

I need a definate answer on this. I believe I have seen it listed in an options flashcode chart but no one can confirm for me if an Astro Spectra can really have it.

Thanks

It is most definitely a Flashcode option, not a CPS option. I have seen it in various radios, but don't recall seeing it in an Astro Spectra. You can check out the flashcode decoder here:

Unless someone on the board actually has a radio with the feature enabled in it, you are stuck with asking Motorola directly...1-800-927-2744, I believe.

I thought I had posted a message back here, but I guess not. Regardless - I know I spoke with JMR for a bit on the topic last night.

The reason why it's a flash option is because MTS/MCS radios will support it if flashed for it's operation.

I have never heard of a Astro radio having GE Star. Then again, there were rumors about an astro saber playing nice on an EDAC's system a WHILE ago....

Stranger things have happened.

GE-STAR

Yes, an Astro Saber will support GE-Star. This is a flash upgrade. It will be option H451. This info is according to the local copy of t he Flash Code decoder that is here on Bat Labs.

What radios do you own?: X9000 thru APX

As Alex pointed out, the flash decoder covers more than the Astro series. It also covers the MTS portables and MCS mobiles. Not all options listed there works with all radios.

If you read each option you will see some that have other meanings, or not supported by the other lines like Q471.

This gets a lot of people, and some ebay buyers/seller who think they have something they really don't in a radio.

There was a Marine contract years ago that required G-Star and they bought AS III radios that had it, so it was done at least once.
