WE HAVE RECENTLY PURCHASED A LARGE AMOUNT OF RADIOS MT1000, VHF 16 CHANNELS, AT THE FIREHOUSE. I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE CHEAPER TO BUY THE ACCESSORIES TO PROGRAM IN-HOUSE RATHER THAN SEND TO RADIO SHOP. I HAVE ALL THE STUFF: RIB, SOFTWARE, CABLE TO RADIO, COMPUTER W/ WINDOWS ME. I CAN GET THE PROGRAM TO RUN OFF OF THE A DRIVE, BUT WHEN I TRY TO DO A COMM TEST IT SAYS FAILED. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?? PLEASE HELP BEFORE I LOOK LIKE AN IDIOT AT THE STATION !!!!!!!!!!
have rib,software,cable....now what for programming MT1000?

MT1000 software is from the "old school" - it requires a SLOW computer - as in a 386 25 mhz running in true DOS 6.22.
That software will not run on anything relatively new. This has been discussed quite a bit here - use the search feature and you'll find quite a few posts about what to do.
Also, please watch the caps lock and the bold print when you write - it's uncomfortable for others to read, and as you probably know, is the equivalent of shouting.

You need to take some time and read through the programming primer that's on the main site. Additionally, there's a lot of good information on the MT1000 page.

Alex, I can't find this key on my keyboard......Is yours an upstated NY model???? Mine may be a "315" version.....
Make sure the RSS is configured to the com port that the rib is hooked up to and all of your connections are correct. I have programmed a lot of these radios with my p-300 laptop. I have since moved to aqn old 386, though. Please make sure you read all the primers, you may make door stops in a very large hurry!!!

thanks for everyone's help with my project. i was able to get my hands on a antique computer with "DOS" but was still unable to figure out what to type in for commands for the A:\ drive. *bad command or file name*
at least i could get the mt1000 screen to come up on my Win ME computer. any way, I'll quit wasting ya'lls time and just take 'um to the radio shop. We dont need any more door props.
