Analogue RSSI level in spectras

Post by Al Pal »

I am well aware that RSSI is available from a contact on the accessory port of a spectra radio (pin 15 of J6, if memory serves correctly - I'd have to go back to the schematics to be certain). However, as far as I can tell, this reading is only available on request. Also, I don't believe it is a linear or necessarily a smooth response.

I'm actually after an analogue real time level that I can process externally. Anyone know of a mod that can be done to bring an RSSI voltage level out? A colleague and I have looked at the schematic but were unable to identify a suitable test point in the front end or IF stages, but perhaps we've missed something.

FWIW, we use W3, W4 and W7 spectras in full encrypted/digital mode over SmartZone trunking.

Does anyone have any ideas at all on this one?

Any (polite  ) suggestions welcome.

Thanks
