CPS Problem with W2K and SP3/SP4

Post by ASTROMODAT »

The lock-up problem on the serial port with Dell laptops running W2K (XTS and ASTRO Spectra will lock-up in "Self Test" mode) has a cure, but it is not easily toggled back off. Once you load the SRN-1378 fix (per Microsoft Pub Q275042), in order to back out the changes you need to make to the W2K registry file to restore the Power Saving mode, all of the changes must be deleted manually in SP3 and SP4. SP1 and 2 can toggle the fix On/Off via a simple 1/0 command. Just another example of the sometimes hidden effects of various SPs!

Much easier to do the simple fix & simply disconnect radio from the programming cable & try again. The SRN indicated the real 'fix' is complicated, as you have pointed out.
