The pic on ebay looks like a trade show of some type.

Looks to me like a hamfest picture, as opposed to a trade show. Reason I think so, is there are no female models around, nor would Motorola have the back of the radio facing the crowd.

If someone was to purchase an xts5000 from Motorola direct, what would be the ballpark figure "price" that person would be looking at.

probably close to 7000.00+ but why would you want one?

wow! thats expensive.

I personally have no need for that radio, I was just wondering how much they are running for factory new.

Yup that is expensive, even $3,252.00 is expensive and I wonder who the heck won that auction.

Asked M for a quote on XTS 5000.

For a full keypad unit with APCO25 CAI, Astro25/9600 Control channel trunking, Smartnet/Smartzone (H38), and H14 ID display with three year warranty extension it comes in a little under $5000.

Actual price may vary - many public safety agencies benefit from volume pricing discounts and negotiated State contract pricing. This could bring the price down to not much more than the ebay auction ending price.

That's interesting. I didn't think these would be available in the "free" market yet. You can bet M was watching that auction pretty closely. I know because someone in M found a stolen Astro DIU 3000 on ebay about a year ago and there was a HUGE internal fiasco. It was discovered because the serial number was visible in one of the images. Check the number of hits on the auction page. I don't think I've ever seen it that high.

Well some lucky dude had some extra doe laying around to spend, but nick has a good business going and I would venture to say he would make a 100% sure the radio was not stolen before he got involved in it. So with that in mind I am sure that radio is clean as a whistle.

Hey - thanks for the info! I saw that DIU on ebay and I think it went for around $900. I was mad at myself for a long time for not bidding - now it looks like I did the right thing!

I was new to ebay at that time and didn't think about calling M with the serial number. Somewhat later there was an 800 Quantar on ebay with detailed photos where you could read not only the S.N., but also the F.O.

I called M with the F.O. and they found who it had been sold to and also determined that it had been replaced due to a freight claim. That made sense because the picture showed the unit had bent corners. I don't think it sold - too high a starting price. Saw the same guy & the same radio at Dayton.

Yes that DIU went for close to $900. The seller had to return it to M and to make a long story short, M figured out hiw it was stolen and the person who stole it was caught. So you lucked out by not bidding.
