What makes a DX KVL able to key an Astro radio and not the BX or CX versions??

the firmware inside the KVL...is updated for both the MTS and Astro series ... basically it takes a D model, although you can load MTS2000's with a C model.

Do you know the specifics in the firmware upgrade? Just trying to get a handle on how all this stuff works.

Are you Doug G??

I upgraded my DVPXL t3014BX to a DX model by getting the upgraded firmware chip and a bigger eeprom chip. Took about 10 minutes to change. Although it is known as a "limited" DX keyloader now, whatever that means. It now keyloads astros just fine.

JMR964,
And or Elroy:
Can any K/L be upgraded or just certain ones and how much did that upgrade cost and does the cost increase with the older model k/l's?

Thanks

Here is what I pulled off the accesspoint:

TLN3411A DX RETROFIT FOR T3010 178.00 EA

TLN3412A DX RETROFIT FOR T3011 165.00 EA

TLN3413A DX RETROFIT FOR T3011 178.00 EA

TLN3414A DX RETROFIT FOR T3012 184.00 EA

TLN3415A DX RETROFIT FOR T3012 178.00 EA

TLN3417A DX RETROFIT FOR T3013 178.00 EA

TLN3418A DX RETROFIT FOR T3014 178.00 EA

TLN3419A DX RETROFIT FOR T3014 165.00 EA

The descriptions provided don't say if they are for bx or cx version as I believe the conversion kits are different. You might have to contact the big M for that. They seem inexpensive over having to buy a new keyloader.
